Tip: Stop worrying about food waste. If you are purchasing healthy fresh foods, inevitably things are going to go bad before you can get to them to eat them. It’s okay to throw food away. It’s okay to not finish everything on your plate whether you are dining out or dining at home. Drive these words into your brain. This is your health we are talking about and overeating is a very unhealthy habit.
I understand you feel bad for those less fortunate than you. If this is the case, donate food, money or time if you truly are feeling bad but don’t sacrifice your health and body, which will also effect your mental wellness by overeating. Whenever possible, set proper portion sizes to avoid waste and overeating. At restaurants when you order, ask for half of the portion to be immediately boxed up for a second meal so that it never even comes to the table as an option to overeat. Lastly, eat slowly and wait 20 minutes before helping yourself to a second serving. It takes about 20 minutes to digest your meal and you won’t really know that you are still hungry until 20 minutes has passed.
